Huntsville Public Library Friends, Inc.

Friends of the Huntsville Public Library began in 1982 as a non-profit volunteer citizens group to support and enlarge the scope of public library services beyond those funded through the Library's annual City budget. In 2006, the Friends of the Library acquired status as a 501(c)3 and changed its name to Huntsville Public Library Friends, Inc. Huntsville Public Library Friends, Inc. continues to be governed by a sixteen-member board which meets on the second Monday of each month in Council Chambers at City Hall, 1212 Avenue M.

Membership in the Friends of the Library is available to all persons wishing to support the Library services. Membership categories are: $10 Individual (Adult); $15 Family; $25 Donor; $50 Business & Service Clubs;
$100 Patron; and $500 Life.

The Friends Board utilizes donations to fund enrichment programs for children. Programs are held at 12:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month at the Old Town Theatre, 1023 12th Street.A variety of programs - including storytelling, author visits, magic, mime, music, drama - are presented for the entire family, as are several performances throughout the summer.
